Different Clouds and my recommendation for a company.

 Different clouds

There are multiple different cloud providers. Here I am going to provide some examples and how they work. They all have their own benefits and weaknesses:

  • AWS Cloud – This is an amazon cloud service provider. AWS stands for amazon web services. AWS delivers over 200 cloud services across multiple industries and technology categories.  AWS currently takes up over 34% of the global cloud marketing share. AWS uses s3 storage to store large amounts of data quickly and availability. AWS is a secure cloud; the AWS infrastructure puts strong safeguards in place to help protect your privacy. Access is tightly controlled, power systems are fully redundant, and all equipment is state of the art. AWS credentials prevent unauthorized access to your account and resources. AWS isn’t the cheapest cloud out there, although it isn’t unreasonable. The cost is £50 per month. This is for 2TB capacity

  • Microsoft Azure – This Microsoft cloud delivers AWS like cloud computing services through the azure cloud in over 116 availability zones Azure uses transport level encryption, such as https when you transfer data in and out of azure storage. Azure is equipped with Microsoft's cloud security centre where a range of security measures and features are put in place to ensure confidentiality of sensitive data. Another benefit of azure is that it is cheap. For example, for 2TB capacity in UK south, it will cost you £31.02.

  • Oracle Cloud – Oracle cloud is the first cloud to be built from the ground up to be a better cloud for every application. Like the other clouds, Oracle cloud is a totally secure cloud. Oracle cloud infrastructure (OCI) security helps organizations reduce the risk of security threats for cloud workloads. With simple, rescriptive and integrated security built into the OCI platform, Oracle helps you easily adopt and secure their cloud infrastructure, data and applications. Now if we were to look at the price of Oracle cloud, the cost varies depending on your needs. However, if we were to look at block volumes of storage, 2TB of balanced performance level and a volume performance unit (VCU) of 10, will cost you £61.10. However, this includes a 200GB free tier discount.

My recommendation:

Each cloud provider has it’s pros and cons. Microsoft azure is by far the cheapest at £31.02 per month. Oracle cloud gives you a 200GB free tier discount. AWS uses strong safeguards to protect the security of your data. All in all, I would recommend using Oracle cloud. This is because, if we were to take into fact the security, price and global reach, Oracle is the way to go. Oracles' expertise is what separates them from others. Oracle has been around for years before the other two cloud providers mentioned. This is shown in their reliability as a software and database company.
