Diversity and Inclusion Assessment

 Diversity and inclusion assessment

  1. 1. Demographics are the people that a business is marketing to. Basically, it’s the audience for a business.

  1. 2. ‘Bias’ means when there is unfair treatment of a person due to the type of person they are. Someone who is biased is more likely to pick someone who is what they prefer, this could be race, religion etc.

  1.  3. ‘Perceivable’ in the web content accessibility guidelines means when information is put out in a presentable way, making it more user friendly. ‘Operable’ means the navigation of a website must be user friendly.

  1. 4. It is important that the web content guidelines should be considered when creating a retail website because people would be able to navigate the website easier and having an inclusive website means more people are going to buy from it.

  1. 5. Direct discrimination is when someone is discriminative towards a certain someone just because of their race, religion, political beliefs etc. This is made clear and direct towards an individual. Whereas indirect discrimination is when there is a policy or rule for everyone but there will be higher consequences for a certain type of person.

  1. 6. Three different types of discrimination that can be applied to the protected characteristic of disability would be:

Accessibility – Disabled people must have good accessibility through a workplace.

Bullying – When someone is harassed in a workplace due to their race or other factors in   a workplace.

Absence – An employer is firing someone due to their limited mobility.

7. Two business benefits of diversity and inclusion consist of their business becoming multinational. This is because when a business has a high diversity, people from across the world would want to work for you. Another one would be sales would go up due to your competitors maybe not being as diverse.

8. Education for groups of non-technical people can increase demographic balance in the digital sector. Also, businesses can follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines to be more demographically balanced.

9.A positive effect of digital inclusion on individuals would be more people would give you sales. This is because if more people can access your website, then more people will approach and buy your products. Another positive impact would be your company becoming more global, this will send more traffic to your website.

10.Company’s suffer adverse effects when principle of digital inclusion is not applied as their demographic is smaller as only technical people can access their services/products. Also, they will have more queries through help desks which can take time to process.
