 Test Yourself – Security

What is the difference between IDS AND IPS?

An IDS system (intrusion detection system) is designed to expose any attempts by attackers to overcome security controls to compromise data or other resources. An IDS system will find the potential threat but won’t act upon it, whereas an IPS (intrusion prevention system) will locate the potential threat and eliminate it.

What is the purpose of NIDS?

The purpose of NIDS (network intrusion detection system) is to monitor traffic on a network by intercepting network packets, processing the data and identifying suspicious traffic.

What is asymmetric encryption?

Asymmetric encryption is when the encryption key is available to anyone to use and encrypt data but only the person who receives the data receives the decryption key.

How do websites show they are encrypted?

Websites show that they are encrypted by having a HTTPS on their domain.
