Sealand - The illegal datacenter

Sealand – The illegal datacenter

Sealand is a small, self-proclaimed principality 7 nautical miles off the coast of the UK. It consists of a disused WW2 fort called Fort Roughs which stands upon 2 concrete pillars in the British channel. In 2000, HavenCo was founded on the principality. This business was created to host illegal websites for activities such as gambling, subpoena-proof emails and untraceable bank accounts. The reason for this was because they wanted to create a data haven that could not be censored by overseas governments. This made Sealand one of the most illegal data centers in the world.
